Unimedia Composers

Unimedia composition means digital compositions on the web that employ the widest possible range of media around a central theme or story. These compositions mix and blend the fullest variety of multimedia: text; audio; still image; video; 2D animation; 3D animation; electronic remote control and sensors; and the two-way interaction of the web. This discussion builds from readers of and participants in the online multimedia text, Multimedia Education. The side bar includes links to this text and to a gallery of completed works and works in progress. Reader comments and reflections on the multimedia text and galleries are invited and encouraged through the Comment links of these postings. Discussion and criticism of other so defined unimedia works are welcome. Please share ideas and make suggestions about what needs to be discussed next or re-discussed.

Unimedia and multimedia are terms used synonymously, recognizing that not all use these terms so interchangeably.

Almost everyone alive today got their start with text and text alone, with the exception of a few families who started their children at the preschool age with significant music and drawing experience. No one has even been able to compose in such a manner until in the late 1990's. You will have much more time to push this envelope than I. We live in interesting times.

I think my biggest difficulty with unimedia/multimedia is multitasking. When there is too much on a page or with anything with technology, I struggle. This semester has given me much needed experience with the multitasking. As a web builder, my goal was to find the most user friendly way to create my site. I am not the most artistic person in the world and have trouble making things standout. However, I try to make up for through creative activities. I hope I accomplished this goal.

Multimedia has been interesting but yet difficult for me to grasp this semester. I am the type of person that needs to spend more time on things to really grasp them. I do intend to work more with most all of the things that we have learned about in this class. I see how so many of the multimedia tools will benefit students by using them and teaching how to use them in the classroom.
The tool that I had the hardest time with was Bryce. I thought that it was absolutely the hardest thing to control. It was awkward for me as we created this piece. I honestly think that it takes a very creative person to sit down and create something with Bryce. Hats off to all of you in my EDEL 666 class because you did an awesome job on your Bryce!
